Citizenship Training

Citizenship Training: Two Approaches for Successful Integration

As part of the integration process for newcomers, Le Monde des Possibles offers two types of citizenship training courses, tailored to the language levels and specific needs of participants. These courses aim to provide the tools necessary to better understand and integrate into Belgian society, while offering a structured framework to support integration and citizenship application processes.

  1. Citizenship Integration Training (FIC):
This training is intended for French-speaking newcomers or those with an A2 level of French. Organized from January to March 2025, it takes place during the day, three times a week. The modules cover a variety of topics such as interculturality, geographical and historical landmarks, and practical aspects of daily life (housing, health, education, etc.). Designed as part of the integration process or with a view to applying for Belgian nationality, the FIC provides a solid foundation for understanding the social, cultural, and political context of Belgium.
  2. Citizenship orientation workshops (AOC):
Specially designed for non-French-speaking newcomers, these workshops are also offered from January to March 2025, during the day, three times a week. The main objective of the AOCs is to introduce the fundamental concepts of citizenship in a multilingual setting, thereby facilitating the integration of participants who are not yet fluent in French. The workshops promote a practical and accessible understanding of integration processes and fundamental rights.

These two courses, led by qualified trainers who have completed the DISCRI (Dispositif de Concertation et d’Appui aux Centres Régionaux d’Intégration) program, guarantee a clear and tailored teaching approach. They are coordinated with other initiatives offered by Le Monde des Possibles, such as French language courses and social and legal services, to provide a comprehensive and consistent approach to integration.

Beyond theoretical learning, these training courses encourage critical thinking and active participation, enabling participants to better understand their role as citizens and build successful and lasting integration.

Citizenship Training provides a structured and inclusive framework to support participants in their integration process. The main objectives include:

  • Laying solid foundations: Facilitating understanding of the foundations of Belgian society, particularly its political, social, and cultural organization.
  • Encourage active participation: Enable participants to engage fully in civic life through practical knowledge and appropriate tools.
  • Promoting interculturality: Raising awareness of the values of openness and mutual respect in order to build bridges between cultures.
  • Strengthening independence: Supporting participants in managing their daily lives through practical modules.
  • Support integration efforts: Coordinate training with other services offered, such as language courses or social programs.

The modules offered, each lasting 60 hours, are organized several times a year and cover a variety of topics:

  • Module 1: Intercultural communication and dialogue.
  • Module 2: Understanding political and social contexts.
  • Module 3: Guidelines for career and educational guidance.
  • Module 4: Living and acting in diverse sociocultural contexts.
  • Module 5: Daily life: housing, health, education.
  • Module 6: Me and my family: family relationships and educational perspectives.

By placing participants at the heart of the process, these training courses actively contribute to their integration and empowerment in Belgian society.
